McTavish Farms is a reputable farm in Moosomin, SK, known for producing high-quality, well-marbled cuts of meat.
Brian and Betty McTavish founded McTavish Farms in 1974, and in 1989 they started producing purebred cattle. Our operation is situated 8 miles east of Moosomin and 2 ½ miles north of the #1 Highway. It comprises of a Purebred Charolais, a commercial herd, and a grain farm. These days, Jared, Heather, and their family oversee the 150 Charolais and 125 commercial cows that make up the cattle operation.

In addition, we run a commercial cattle operation with Red Angus-based cows crossed with Charolais bulls, whose calves are expected to be born on grass in April and May. We are guaranteed a really easy-to-market buckskin calf by this cross.

Our goal is to breed for characteristics that are useful in the actual production of meat.We support well-functioning cattle that are sound structurally, easy to handle, easy to calve, and that weigh their weight when weaned. On the farm, we have our annual bull sale on the fourth Friday of March. We are quite proud of the way we operate. We would be happy to give tours to guests at any time.
