B&C Trenching Ltd. was founded in 1987 in the Battlefords by Ray Bolig and Wayne Cook, and its tagline, "movin' dirt since '87," has been on trucks and trailers across northwest Saskatchewan for nearly four decades. Jordan Buziak, who joined as field manager in 2022 and grew up on a farm after working in the oilfield, took over ownership and operations in 2024. The company describes itself as the Northwest's go-to underground utility contractor, and its clients have included SaskPower, SaskTel, SaskEnergy, Access Communications and the provincial highways department, along with local farmers and contractors.

Horizontal directional drilling

Directional drilling installs power, water, fibre optic, pipeline and gas lines without opening a trench, which protects wetlands, forest, roads and finished lawns. The company runs a Ditch Witch JT4020 drill rated for bores up to 700 metres and 24-inch pipe, a JT30 for runs up to 400 metres and 14 inches, and a Ditch Witch 922 for residential work.

Trenching and backhoe

Where an open trench is the right answer, B&C runs a Ditch Witch RT95 chain trencher that digs up to five feet deep and an RT12 mini trencher, plus Case 590 and 580 backhoes that dig to about fifteen feet.

Hydrovac

Hydro-excavation uses pressurized water and a vacuum to expose buried utilities safely. The company's hydrovac carries a 1,600-gallon spoil tank and 950 gallons of fresh water, with 2,200 psi of pressure.

Mini excavation

For tight spaces, a Case CX17 mini excavator fits through a 36-inch opening, and a CX36 handles slightly larger jobs. A fleet of trucks and trailers with hydraulic pickers supports the work.
