Livestock, Cattle & Agricultural Hauling in Williams Lake and the Cariboo in Williams Lake, British Columbia

Hauling for Cariboo ranch country

The Cariboo-Chilcotin is one of British Columbia's great cattle regions: big ranches, long distances and a spring-to-fall rhythm of moving animals between winter feed grounds, summer range, sale yards and processing plants. Diesel Cowboy Transport Ltd., based on Frizzi Road in Williams Lake and led by Beau Meacham, lists trucking among its services, with a particular focus on livestock, cattle and agricultural transportation.

What it hauls

• Cattle – cows, calves, bulls and feeders, moved between ranches, auction marts and feedlots
• Livestock – other farm animals, hauled with the care that live loads demand
• Agricultural transportation – moving farm products and supplies for producers
• Local hauling – shorter moves around Williams Lake and the surrounding Cariboo communities

Livestock hauling: what producers should know

• Plan the load. Animals travel best when they are loaded calmly, kept at a sensible density and not held on the truck longer than necessary.
• Know the rules. Canadian regulations set standards for fitness to travel, loading density, and rest, feed and water intervals, and haulers and shippers share responsibility for meeting them.
• Prepare the animals. Healthy, properly identified animals ready at the corrals make loading faster and safer.
• Mind the weather. Cariboo winters and summer heat both affect how and when animals should be trucked.

Booking a haul

When you call, have the number and class of animals, the pickup and drop-off locations, the date you need the move, and any special handling needs ready. Fall shipping season is busy, so early calls help.
