J.L.R. Trophy Bear Hunting is a well established Canadian hunting outfitter based in Petit Rocher, in Northern New Brunswick. Recognized as one of the largest black bear hunting outfitters in the region, the company has spent more than 15 years building a reputation for honesty, hard work, and a genuinely rewarding outdoor experience. J.L.R. Trophy Bear Hunting specializes primarily in black bear hunting, offering hunters a 99.9 percent success rate thanks to experienced guides, active trail camera monitoring on all bait sites, and a deliberate approach that limits hunting to the six strongest weeks of the ten week spring season. The company also caps hunter numbers at 50 for the spring season to protect the quality of every hunt.
In addition to black bear, J.L.R. Trophy Bear Hunting offers guided moose hunts during the final full week of September, welcoming hunters using firearms, bows, crossbows, or black powder rifles. Every hunting package includes on site lodging, meals, and transportation, giving both local and international hunters a complete and comfortable experience from arrival to departure.
Whether the goal is a trophy spring black bear, a fall bear hunt, or a memorable New Brunswick moose hunt, J.L.R. Trophy Bear Hunting combines local expertise, dedicated guides, and a genuine passion for the outdoors to deliver results hunters can trust.
Spring Black Bear Hunting
The company's primary and most established service. Spring hunts run during the six best weeks of the ten week season, giving hunters a 99.9 percent chance of taking a black bear. All bait sites are monitored with trail cameras so guides can identify and target trophy sized bears before hunters arrive.
Fall Black Bear Hunting
In addition to the spring season, J.L.R. Trophy Bear Hunting guides fall black bear hunts, always beginning on a Monday and ending on Friday, with arrival on Sunday and departure Saturday morning. Fall hunters are required by law to wear an orange vest and hat, except during bow season.
Bow Hunting for Black Bear
For archery hunters, stands are positioned approximately 15 to 20 yards from the bait and are built 12 to 15 feet high, giving bow hunters a controlled and effective shot opportunity.
Firearm Hunting for Black Bear
For gun hunters, stands and ground blinds are set up between 50 and 150 yards from the bait, providing a safe and practical setup suited to rifle hunting.
Moose Hunting
A dedicated moose hunt held during the last full week of September. Guides bring hunters to prime moose territory and support all methods, including rifle, bow, crossbow, and black powder. The package includes lodging, meals, transportation to and from Bathurst airport, transportation to and from the lodge and hunting sites, and the services of an experienced guide. Note that packaging or shipping of moose meat is not included.
Professional Guiding Services
By provincial law, a maximum of three hunters is assigned per guide. Guides personally transport hunters to their stands, provide two way radios for safety and communication, and remain available throughout the hunt to respond as soon as an animal is taken.
Trail Camera Bait Monitoring
Trail cameras are installed at every bait site, allowing guides to track bear activity and show hunters real photos of the bears available before the hunt begins, helping hunters target the size of animal they are looking for.
Lodge Accommodations
On site lodge accommodations provide a comfortable home base for hunters throughout their stay, with daily hearty breakfasts and filling lunches included as part of the hunting package.
Meal Service
Full meal service is provided throughout the hunting trip, starting with breakfast each morning and continuing with substantial lunches to keep hunters energized through long days in the field.
Transportation Services
Transportation is arranged to and from Bathurst airport for moose hunters, as well as between the lodge and hunting or bait sites for all guests, removing the logistical burden from traveling hunters.
Field Preparation and Hide Handling
For successful bear hunters, guides take the hide off the animal according to the hunter's specifications the morning after a kill, once photos have been taken.
Hunting Licence Guidance
The company operates within New Brunswick's black bear licensing structure, where each hunter may purchase up to two black bear licences per year, one bag limit per licence, valid across the spring and fall seasons.
With more than 15 years of experience, J.L.R. Trophy Bear Hunting has earned its place as one of the leading black bear and moose hunting outfitters in Northern New Brunswick. Its success comes from a straightforward formula: honest guiding, disciplined hunt scheduling, trail camera supported bait sites, and a genuine commitment to hard work on behalf of every hunter who books a trip. By limiting hunter numbers and focusing only on the strongest hunting weeks, the company consistently delivers a 99.9 percent success rate on black bear while also offering a highly regarded moose hunting experience each September. Combined with comfortable lodging, full meal service, reliable transportation, and experienced guides, J.L.R. Trophy Bear Hunting offers a complete, professionally managed hunting package that continues to bring hunters back year after year from across Canada and abroad.
