Before the truck arrives

A smooth load starts at the corrals. Have animals sorted and penned near the loading area, make sure the ramp or chute is sound, and let the hauler know how many head are going, what kind, and where they're headed. Horses should be halter-broke or at least easy to handle, and anything that may be unfit to travel should be flagged in advance rather than on loading day.
